Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to register a trademark?
On top of the professional fee there are official filing fees, set by the trademark offices; they differ between Italy and the EU and depend on the number of classes. Your quote always shows the two separately, so you know exactly what you are paying and to whom.
Should I register in Italy or across the EU?
It depends on where you operate and where you plan to grow over the next few years. An EU trademark covers every member state with a single filing, but it is more exposed: an earlier right in just one country can block it.
Is my logo protected without registration?
An original logo is protected by copyright, but that protection is weaker and harder to enforce than the one you get by registering it as a trademark.
How long does a registration last?
Ten years, renewable indefinitely. Just remember to renew it: a trademark that lapses because it was not renewed is lost for good.
